We stopped using traditional flame applied mineral felts for flat roofing over ten years ago due to the inherent danger of using a naked flame for adhesion, increasing insurance premiums and comparable longevity of materials. Initially we used Rubberbond fleece backed EPDM membrane but for the last 5 years have been using Firestone EPDM which is cost effective, well stocked at our suppliers and when fitted correctly looks pleasing.

Firestone rubber EPDM membrane benefits from durability during extreme weather conditions, as the rubber remains flexible. In contrast, many mineral felt roofs become brittle and split on edges & corners due to heat and cold. We see this on a daily basis and often replace mineral felt roofs with new rubber installations. This durability is reflected in the length of guarantee we offer on our Firestone EPDM rubber membrane roofs which is 20 years from completion date. On most contracts we fit new 18 mm OSB Sterling board providing a flat and dry surface for installation. The perimeters are finished with black PVC edge & gutter trims, pre drilled for installation, resulting in a professional and uniform finish.

We can price for any size of roof such as extensions, garages, sheds, Firestone is massively versatile. For a larger project these works can be carried out at the same time tiling as the slating/tiling of pitched roofs. This combination of works can often save on scaffold/ waste disposal costs.
